Dianne Feinstein is a Democratic politician who served as a United States Senator from California from 1992 to 2023. Born on June 22, 1933, in San Francisco, California, Feinstein had a long and notable political career.
Feinstein initially entered politics in the 1960s and 1970s, serving on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. In 1978, she became the first woman to serve as the mayor of San Francisco, a position she held for nearly a decade.
Feinstein was elected to the U.S. Senate in a special election in 1992 to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Senator Pete Wilson. She went on to win re-election in subsequent elections and served in the Senate for over three decades.
